1960 Logbook |
These are entries from a 1960 log book belonging to club member Bob Thomson. At that time it was normal to use a pilots' log book for recording parachute descents. In this log you can see the variety of aircraft and drop zones used by the club. Some names and signatures appear in this log that make frequent appearance elsewhere in the archives - Charles Robertson, Lyle Cameron, Keith Teesdale, Tom Dickson. Bob was BPA membership number 208, but had started his parachuting in the military with No1 BPC at Upper Heyford in April 1950. Of the 67 military jumps that he made, the first 34 were made before the introduction of the reserve parachute in 1956! |
