The Comet airliner which remained
outside until 1989. Very helpful for the parachute club
in spotting the airfield from cloudy skies. Both this
and the Shackleton flew in to Strathallan1974 and 1976
respectively. The Comet's undercarriage collapsed on
landing! The support at the rear of the aircraft was due
to the fact that it could topple onto its tail end
without much difficulty- it was that finely balanced.
One heavy snowfall had the aircraft resting on its tail
the next morning! |
